FINE ARTS
What is a 'Fine Arts Focus'?
At Crystal View we stress the importance of 'learning through the arts'. Instruction in the fine arts areas is 'process' oriented rather than 'performance' oriented. As is natural, many of the fine arts will lend themselves to a sharing and presenting of what we've learned. This may take many forms. The children, grade 1 to 6 have sessions in visual arts, music, dance and drama. These areas are taught both in isolation and through integration in other subject areas. Students are taught by teachers who have expertise in one or more of the fine arts areas. Each class receives 2 lessons/week in the area of dance, visual art, and music and 1 lesson of drama. The older students receive about 5 hours of Fine Arts instruction each week. The primary students receive about 3 hours
of instruction. We believe that the Fine Arts focus provides a more wholistic education for our students.
